like the flowing river

be like the flowing river.
silent in the night.
be not afraid of the dark.
if there are stars in the sky,
reflect them back.
if there are clouds in the sky,
remember, clouds, like the river, are water.
so, gladly reflect them too,
in your own tranquil depths.

heartless - kanye west/the fray

In the night, I hear 'em talk,
the coldest story ever told
Somewhere far along this road, he lost his soul to a woman so heartless...
How could you be so heartless?
Oh... How could you be so heartless?

How could you be so, cold as the winter wind when it breeze, yo
Just remember that you talkin' to me though
You need to watch the way you talkin' to me, yo
I mean after all the things that we've been through
I mean after all the things we got into
Hey yo, I know of some things that you ain't told me
Hey yo, I did some things but that's the old me
And now you wanna get me back and you gon' show me
So you walk around like you don't know me
You got a new friend, well I got homies
But in the end it's still so lonely

In the night, I hear 'em talk,
the coldest story ever told
Somewhere far along this road, he lost his soul to a woman so heartless...
How could you be so heartless?
Oh... How could you be so heartless?

How could you be so Dr. Evil, you bringin' out a side of me that I dont know...
I decided we weren't gon' speak so
Why we up 3 A.M. on the phone
Why does she be so mad at me fo'
Homie I dont know, she's hot and cold
I won't stop, won't mess my groove up
'Cause I already know how this thing go
You run and tell your friends that you're leaving me
They say that they don't see what you see in me
You wait a couple months then you gon' see
You'll never find nobody better than me

In the night, I hear 'em talk,
the coldest story ever told
Somewhere far along this road, he lost his soul to a woman so heartless...
How could you be so heartless?
Oh... How could you be so heartless?

Talkin', talkin', talkin', talk
Baby let's just knock it off
They don't know what we been through
They don't know 'bout me and you
So I got something new to see
And you just gon' keep hatin' me
And we just gon' be enemies
I know you can't believe
I could just leave it wrong
And you can't make it right
I'm gon' take off tonight
Into the night....

In the night, I hear 'em talk,
the coldest story ever told
Somewhere far along this road, he lost his soul to a woman so heartless...
How could you be so heartless?
Oh... How could you be so heartless?

wat a life

I just watched the series of MTV Wonder Girls, a documentary made to document all the Wonder Girls' activities before and after their debute.

It was funny watching them being afraid and not confident. Yet, people around them looked at their potential and looked forward that they would be a great girl band. JYP, their producer, also had a high expectations for them that he had planned for their tour to Japan, China, and USA. They seemed to doubt it. But, now, look at them, the best Asian band and expanding to USA. They're now famous all over the world through the internet and become one of the most expensive Asian artists. Their hard work for years were not futile.

But, what interests me is SunMi's reaction when JYP was explaining about how hard it is to go into the world. SunMi cried. She was asked what is her dream? To be the world's best. JYP then explained how hard it is to achieve that. She has to work and practice for a whole days, sleep just for a few hours, and so on. She can not do whatever she want to. So, she has to choose another way to keep moving on.

It was kinda hit me. I just experienced it 2 weeks ago. When my dreams were like crumbling. I was almost giving up my dreams. My mom just said that I MUST go to college in Indonesia (tho she changed her decision later). I was like: DANG!! I had planned it all! My college. What job I would find. The salary I would get. Saving money and travel. And so on..... and she said that right away. What should I do now in Indonesia? I haven't found my specific major and college yet. hmmmmphh.....

I cried. Angry to my mom and grieving myself to be not able to reach my dreams I'd dreamed of for years. I couldn't calm myself down until I said to myself: I WON'T LOSE MY DREAMS. So, I tried to find alternatives right away just like what JYP said and finally found what I'm interested in. Tho I haven't be sure of it yet. At least I have some alternatives :p

Life is hard. I am just 17 years old but I can say this already. I can't imagine what it will be like in the future 10 years later from now. What if I can build a better life than what I have right now? Can I survive? Will I be successful? Can I reach all my dreams? Will I be lonely? Will I have friends in my new society? Can I see my friends again?

Those questions thrill me. But I have my dreams. I'll do everything to reach it. XD

carpenters/cubic u - close to you

Why do birds

Suddenly appear?
Everytime you are near
Just like me
They long to be
Close to you

Why do stars
Fall down from the sky?
Everytime you walk by
Just like me
They long to be
Close to you

On the day that you were born
The angels got together and decided
To create a dream come true
So they sprinkled moondust in your hair
Of gold and starlight in your eyes of blue

Just like me
They long to be
Close to you

life is all about options. that's what people say. that's true. but not always.

life is also about compulsions.
something that we can't choose.
something that people choose for us.
something fated for us.

when it goes for choosing either what we want or what we are fated.
when we are fated for what we don't want.
when we are chosen for what we don't want.

one word: suffocating.

be proud! :D

I just opened a blog I found a few weeks ago - akhyari.blogspot.com (Good News From Indonesia). What a great blog it is - reporting all the good things of Indonesia when teen agers of Indonesians are losing their nationalism.

And tonight, I found a very interesting post. This what will make Indonesians proud of their country and be confident with their identity as an Indonesian.

“It is not fair to compare Indonesia with it’s neighboring countries such as Singapore and Malaysia, or any other country in the world in that case. Indonesia has changed from a totally centralized country to a decentralized country virtually overnight. Indonesia has changed from a Dictatorship to a Democracy virtually overnight. Indonesia has changed to a liberal country virtually overnight. No other country has been through what Indonesia has been through virtually overnight. The closest example is the USSR. When the USSR split up, it experienced similar changes to what Indonesia had, virtually overnight. In that condition, Russia’s economy had a NEGATIVE growth that year. In that same condition, Indonesia’s Economy GREW. It had POSITIVE growth. If I were an Indonesian, I would be proud of that achievement. And I would predict a much brighter future"

- Jeffrey Sachs - American Economist (University of Columbia)

jeffrey sachs

We usually think that Indonesia sucks that we lose from our neighbor country which gained their independence later than us. They're younger but they can be more prosperous and have a much better economy. Should we embarrassed of that? NO!

And Jeffrey Sachs explained it. We have one of the best democracy in the world, yet the economy. Indonesia is one of a few countries that gained a positive economy growth in the turbulence of global crisis. Our stock market is has one of the best performance these last 2 years. Other countries love our president SBY who was elected for the second time that they believe in Indonesia to grow vastly.

So... let's proud of Indonesia! :D

Great Lessons of Life

  • When someone lies to you, it teaches you that things are not always what they seem. The truth is often far beneath the surface. Look beyond the masks people wear if you want to know what is in their hearts. Remove your own masks to let people know who you really are.
  • When someone steals from you it teaches you that nothing is forever. Always appreciate what you have. You never know when you might lose it. Never take your friends or family for granted, because today and sometimes only this very moment is the only guarantee you may have.
  • When someone inflicts injury upon you, it teaches you that the human state is a very fragile one. Protect and take care of your body as best as you can, it’s the one thing that you are sure to have forever.
  • When someone mocks you, it teaches you that no two people are alike. When you encounter people who are different from you, do not judge them by how they look or act, instead base it on the contents of what is in their hearts.
  • When someone breaks your heart, it teaches you that loving someone does not always mean that the person will love you back. But don’t turn your back on love, because when you find the right person, the joy that one person brings you will make up for all of your past hurts. Times a thousand fold.
  • When someone holds a grudge against you, it teaches you that everyone makes mistakes. When you are wronged, the most virtuous thing you can do is forgive the offender without pretense. Forgiving those who have hurt us is often the most difficult and painful of life’s experiences, but it is also the most courageous thing a person can do.
  • When a loved one is unfaithful to you, it teaches you that resisting temptation is man’s greatest challenge. Be vigilant in your resistance against all temptations. By doing so, you will be rewarded with an enduring sense of satisfaction far greater than the temporary pleasure by which you were tempted.
  • When someone cheats you, it teaches you that greed is the root of all evil. Aspire to make your dreams come true, no matter how lofty they may be. Do not feel guilty about your success, but never let an obsession with achieving your goals lead you to engage in malevolent activities.
  • When someone ridicules you, it teaches you that nobody is perfect. Accept people for their merits and be tolerant of their flaws. Do not ever reject someone for imperfections over which they have no control.
  • When someone loves us, it teaches us love, kindness, charity, honesty, humility, forgiveness, acceptance, and all of these can counteract all the evil in the world. For every good deed, there is one evil deed. Man alone has the power to control the balance between good and evil, but because the lessons of love are not taught often enough, the power is too often abused.
  • When you enter someone’s life, whether by plan, chance or coincidence, consider what your lesson will be. Will you teach love or a harsh lesson of reality? When you die, will your life have resulted in more loving or more hurting? More comfort or more pain? More joy or more sadness? Each one of us has the power over the balance of the love in the world. Use it wisely!

if we found out that we all had five minutes to live, every phone line in the world would be tied up with people calling other people to stumble about how much they love them. So don’t wait until we only have five minutes to live—do it now.

they can be on fire. but you must not be on fire to fight them.
instead, you must be the water to wipe them out.

your heart should burn. but your head must not be burned - keep it cool.

story of a chicken

Chicken? What's so special about it? Nice meat to eat.

No. Not just that. There's something making chicken quite amazing: It is somehow smarter than humans - the so-called most perfect creature. How can it be?

It's a Chinese wise words saying not to wake up late or else, chickens will take your luck.

The quotation used a chicken as its symbol because chickens are hardworking. They wake up before the sun comes up, looking for food, and go home after the sun goes down. They never sleep in the afternoon. They always find something to eat and never suffer hunger. And what makes them smart is: they never commit suicide - nor do they kill other chickens.

What about humans? We're lazy. We wake up late and go home early. We don't wanna work hard we just wanna be relax. All we wanna do is having fun. And, worst, we commit suicide when we are stressed out - or even kill other humans when we are angry.

So.. it is true that chickens are smarter, isn't it? :D
The question is: do we want to be below the animals that we eat everyday?

let's make peacee :D

I'm Indonesian. I love my country. I love my nation. I love my diversity.

And I hate Malaysia for stealing my diversity. I hate Malaysia for stealing my islands. I hate Malaysia for being such a jerk.

And I just realized what a stupid person I am to be angry to Malaysia, shouting them "Malingshit" and shouting for war when I read one person writing a wall on IndonesiaUnite Facebook: "Just ignore Malaysia. Beat them by building our economy." and when Tata told Merlyn and I about a forum where Indonesians and Malaysians debating. I saw both of us have our own mistakes and are fools for being provocated. I've been subjective instead of objective - not seeing other factors.

So... let's just see what we can learn from this conflict:

Why Malaysia is wrong

1. They claimed and stole things that are obviously - people all over the world know - Indonesians': Batik, Reog Ponorogo, and Tari Pendet. They've been in Indonesia for hundreds of year. They Batik from Java and Tari Pendet comes from one of the most famous island in the world, Bali.

2. They said Indonesians don't have identity. So, what are they? Their identity is just: Muslim-Malayan. And they don't have beautiful cultures.

3. They said Indonesians can't have a peace with each other. Meanwhile, they're discriminating Indians there.

Why Indonesia is wrong
1. They won't care about their country unless this kind of thing happened.

2. They're too easy to be provacated. Too fast to angry and it becomes their backfire.

So... we have our own mistakes. Why should we blame others while we have our own mistakes? Why don't we just learn from our mistakes and fix it? Why don't we just make peace?

Indonesia and Malaysia used to be friend. Indonesia used to want Malaysia to be one part of this country. Malaysia either used to want to be one part of this country. They asked our leaders to send them good men to lead Malaysia. Malaysia used to learn how to develope a country from Indonesia. And those good relationship were ruined just because of Cold War?!

Let's just have a gentle competition and make PEACE :D

war? nope!

People shouted to have a war with Malaysia, from ordinary people to politicians. War? Is that the right thing to do?

I hate Malaysia. But I don't think it is the best solution.

War brings nothing good but hates, cries, and deaths. Then why should we make a war? Moreover, I'm pretty sure those shouting for war will reject if they're asked to volunteer in the war. Will they want to get involved?

Let's just ignore Malaysia and learn from our mistakes. We must take care of our country - its cultures, its people, its territories, its heritages, its nature, its environment.

No time for war. Make peace. Be mature. Beat them gently. XD
