like the flowing river

be like the flowing river.
silent in the night.
be not afraid of the dark.
if there are stars in the sky,
reflect them back.
if there are clouds in the sky,
remember, clouds, like the river, are water.
so, gladly reflect them too,
in your own tranquil depths.

the ending of 2009

okay... here it is my first post on the new year 2010. i've just passed the old year 2009 last night. 2009 has been a year with lots of experiences, lessons, blessings, sadness, happiness, hardships, and, of course, troubles.

having great times with friends at school.

study trip to bali; experiencing new great stuffs.
hiked to the top of mount batur for around 2 hours and saw one of the best view i've ever seen.it was really tiring yet fun. my feet were like going to rip off. but i do really wanna go there again! we also do rafting. it was another greatest experience there. beautiful view on the banks, green cliffs, water falls, beautiful birds. biking all the way through ubud early in the morning before the sun went up. went through up-and-down roads, rice fields with sunrise, cycling on the edge of a cliff, and biked up to an extremely steep road. most of us had to walk with the bicycle instead of cycling since it's too hard. and the best part was to go down the road all through ubud. we didn't have to bike it; just directed it relaxly. when we got home, there were thousands of photos from bali uploaded to facebook and we still missed and had the atmosphere in bali for 1-2 weeks.

frictions with some of my friends.

parties every week.

freakin twilight musical play.

bandung with friends.

report card and flight to San Francisco on the next day.

one month living in San Francisco; learning way too much things. ways of thinking, principles, foods from Africa and Mid-East, working at a florist, my first salary, fights with my uncle.

getting into grade 12 with new class.

again, friction with some friends.

stressed out in looking for funds for loren cup. 1 month busy selling food. didn't even have time to eat out with my friends. stayed upstairs all day selling drinks and foods. lifting boxes from the lobby up to the 3rd floor. or took cool boxes to basketball field and took it back to the 3rd floor.

loren cup. didn't really have great games but was really satisfied with the success of it. everything went well except for the weather. soaked up 3 times in rain in a week. stayed till 7.30 at school. the closing was really the best one. great performances from bands and dance groups especially for Abdul and the Coffee Theory. worked till 11pm as Abdul's drummer lost his blackberry. having normal week with euphoria atmosphere still.

quizzes. tests. and homeworks piled up. work and study till late night. yet, i was really amazed that i could finish everything right on the due date and not getting late. i learned that it trained my responsibility.

the freakin month finished and we had a week free from tasks and anything. just waiting for coming up holiday. community service to muara angke; got into mangrove swamp to clean it from rubbishes. it's unbearably smelled bad and dirty. but it's quite an interesting experience, tho. there was also an art performance on the last day. i liked how it was designed. it was made like a festival. there were just some chairs and picnic tables around the stage which was built on the empty field. So, we got a relax and playful atmosphere there. some of the bands were also pretty good.

and finally the long waited 3 weeks holiday. i went out with my friends everyday. such a wasting of money. we also had a yakiniku time for christmas in the afternoon. and went to kemang at night with no plan at all before. it was a great night. so much fun and exciting since we did it in such a sudden. we laughed a lot. we ate a lot at burger king. we even almost dead from collision with a bus. unforgettable night.

two great persons died on 30th of dec. first, gus dur, a great old man, indonesia ex-president. i really adored him. he is the man from majority that loves minority. he was the one ending the discrimination againts chinese people in indonesia. he was the man struggling for equality for everyone; those who are disabled, comes from minority, or different classes. in his eyes, everyone are the same. i felt really sad when he died. i lost the hero. the second person is Sara. a great 23 year old woman sailing all over the world with his boyfriend, Charles. she spent her live on the sea. she died because of diabetes. i adored her for her courage to sail in such an age. leaving everything behind there. she was also sweet and kind according to her friends. she's supposed to have a longer life! everything is in God's will anyway. i will really miss them.

in the end, finally, the last day of 2009 came. tata carla cindy and i planned to play some fireworks together at night after family dinner; since we always had nothing to do in new year's eve. it is the first time for me to spent new year without my parents. i had a bad atmosphere at home in the afternoon till night. there was some family problems and it broke my family's mood. so, i was really grateful that i could hang out with my friends. it was so fun. great photos. great laughs. beautiful fireworks. beautiful sky. beautiful stars. beautiful moon. it was one of the brightest moon i've ever seen. so bright that we could see the cloud clearly. so bright we didn't even need any light to light us. the night was PERFECT. i ended the year with such a pleasure. i hope this new year would be great. :D

HAPPY NEW YEAR, ALL!!

wtf. this is what i hate the most. planning a plan for a long time. we had agreed before that.

and suddenly it is canceled.

what make me mad are that it is just because some of the lose their mood. JUST BECAUSE OF THE MOOD! what a selfish ruining all the plans.

more.. an irresponsible person suddenly came up with another idea ruining all the plans without considering the effect of it.

huff. i know it might be their rights to do that and i might have no right to be mad of it. but it just sucks when everything is messed up without feeling any guilt on them.

cant they be at least a bit more responsible?

And today, and for the years to come, please don't say "yes" when you want to say "no", and don't say "no" when you want to say "yes"!

Time is very slow for those who wait
Very fast for those who are scared
Very long for those who lament
Very short for those who celebrate
But for those who love time is eternal

One day, you will die.

You will stop and the world will carry on. Lovers will love. Others will shop, laugh and cry. Sometimes alone. Sometimes together. The radio will keep playing.

But you will be gone.

Only the love you gave, the souls you touched and the people you changed, will remain.

They will carry on for you. They will pick up where you left off.

There is nothing to be sad about here.

God and Real Life

Christian tradition
A protestant priest, having started a family, no longer had any peace for his prayers. One night, when he knelt down, he was disturbed by the children in the living room.
“Have the children keep quiet!” he shouted.
His startled wife obeyed. Thereafter, whenever the priest came home, they all maintained silence during prayers. But he realized that God was no longer listening.
One night, during his prayers, he asked the Lord: “what is going on? I have the necessary peace, and I cannot pray!”
An angel replied: “He hears words, but no longer hears the laughter. He notices the devotion, but can no longer see the joy.”
The priest stood and shouted once again to his wife: “Let the children play! They are part of praying!”
And his words were heard by God once again.

Muslim tradition
A blind man was begging on the road to Mecca, when a pious Moslem came over and asked whether the people were giving generously – as the Koran commands. The man showed him his little tin, which was almost empty. The traveler said:
– Let me write something on the card around your neck.
Hours later, the traveler returned. The beggar was surprised, for he had received a large amount of money.
– What did you write on the card? – he asked.
– All I wrote was: Today is a beautiful spring day, the sun is shining, and I am blind.

Jewish tradition
Dov Beer de Mezeritch was asked:
“Which example should one follow? That of pious men, who devote their lives to God? That of scholars, who seek to understand the will of the Almighty?
“The best example is that of the child,” he answered.
“A child knows nothing. It hasn’t yet learned what reality is,” people commented.
“You are all quite wrong, for a child possesses three qualities we should never forget,” said Dov Beer. “They are always joyful without reason. They are always busy. And when they want something, they know how to demand it firmly and with determination.”

selfish

selfishness brings success?? absolutely NOT agree.

ego and selfishness are just the two worst humans' character. the two main antagonists of world's conflicts and wars.

people want things what they dream; taking no care for others' privileges.
they want more and more money and worlds' treasures; even corrupting others' money.
they won't care about others unless they get what they want. they won't even care about innocents' life unless they win the war.

it was the reason why even a president could heartlessly corrupted his people money for years. it is the reason why middle-east wars never ends. it was the reason why people could slaughter millions of people in the world wars.

those selfish people will brainwash others by saying that taking no care for others is just about struggle and to reach a victory we have to sacrifice others - even their life.
afraid of being selfish will just make us as a coward - unable to grab the victory into our hands.

then, why did God create humans? not just one but billions of them? why do we have heart? what are our feelings for? sad? happy? angry?

success can be reached with love and respects. working together as a human with our heart. support and help each other to make a solid relationship. and bring peace to the world.
